This sugar free, zero trans fat, lactose free and no dairy dhokla recipe is sure to stimulate your tastebuds. The popular vegetarian and jain gujarati recipe is a perfect all day, mid morning, evening or breakfast snacks dish. The recipe goes perfectly with coriander chutney, fresh fruit juice, curry leaves chutney or pudina chutney.

Ingredients

For Dhokla
  • 1/4 cup Bengal Gram (Chole) Whole
  • 2 tbsp Semolina (Suji)
  • 1/2 tsp Green Chilli Paste
  • 1/2 tsp Fruit Salt
  • 1/4 tsp Ginger Garlic Paste
  • 1/4 tsp Salt
  • 1/4 tsp Turmeric (Haldi) Powder
  • 1 tsp Coriander (Chopped)
  • As Required Water
For Tadka
  • 1/8 tsp Mustard (Rai) Seeds
  • 1/8 tsp Asafoetida (Hing)
  • 4 no. Curry Leaves (Kadi Patta)
  • 1 tsp Oil

Method

Pre Preparation
  • Step 1

    Soak, pressure cook & grind chole

For Mint Chutney
  • Step 1

    Grind mint, garlic, chopped ginger, salt and lemon juice

Preparation
  • Step 1

    In a bowl add cooked chole, suji, haldi, salt, green chilly paste, ginger garlic paste, add water and mix well, add fruit salt and mix gently

  • Step 2

    Grease plate with oil, pour batter evenly, cover and cook well for 1015 min

  • Step 3

    Heat oil, rai, hing, kadi patta and allow to crackle

  • Step 4

    Add tadka on dhokla and garnish with chopped coriander and serve with mint chutney
