Ingredients

  • 1.5 Tbsp Basmati Rice
  • 1.5 Tbsp Whole Masoor
  • 1/8 Cup Onion (Julienne)
  • 2 Tbsp Tomato (Chopped)
  • 1 Tbsp Coriander (Chopped)
  • 1 Tsp Ginger Garlic Paste
  • 1/2 Tsp Green Chilli Paste
  • 1/2 Tsp Jeera
  • 1/4 Tsp Garam Masala
  • 3 No. Cloves
  • 3 No. Black Pepper
  • 1 No. Bay Leaf
  • 1/2 Tsp Salt
  • 2 Tsp Ghee
  • As Required Water
  • 1.5 Tbsp Rice

Method

Pre Preparation
  • Step 1

    Soak 1.5 tbsp whole masoor for 15 min

  • Step 2

    Soak 1.5 tbsp basmati rice for 15 min

Preparation
  • Step 1

    Place a pressure cooker on medium heat

  • Step 2

    To the heated cooker add 2 tsp ghee

  • Step 3

    Now add whole spices(3 black pepper, 3 cloves, 1 bay leaf, 1/2 tsp jeera and allow it to crackle

  • Step 4

    Add 1/8 cup julienne onions and saute till golden brown

  • Step 5

    Add 1 tsp ginger garlic paste, 1/2 tsp green chilly paste, 1/4 tsp garam masala and mix it well

  • Step 6

    Add 2 tbsp chopped tomato, 1/2 tsp salt, and water as required

  • Step 7

    Add soaked masoor dal and bring to a boil

  • Step 8

    Now add soaked rIce, 1 tbsp chopped coriander leaves and mix well

  • Step 9

    Allow to cook for 3 whistles

  • Step 10

    Serve hot with curd, raita or chutney
